Moving Your Cat to a New Home

If there’s one thing we can learn from cats, it’s that they’re not afraid to speak their minds.

These creatures have no problem letting us know when they’re displeased, and they usually do so in the most vocal and dramatic way possible. If you want to keep your cat happy (and avoid having it hiss at you), here are seven things that cats hate and you should never do.

1.)  Don’t ignore your cat’s meows.

Although cats are often thought of as independent creatures, they actually rely on their owners for many basic needs. One of the most important things that owners can do for their cats is to listen to their meows. Each meow has a different meaning, and by paying attention to the context and tone of the meow, owners can quickly learn to interpret their cat’s needs.

For example, a short, sharp meow is often a sign of hunger, while a plaintive meow may indicate that the cat is bored or lonely. Regardless of the meaning, it’s important to remember that cats use meows as a way to communicate, so ignoring them is sure to result in an unhappy feline.

2.)  Cats hate to neglect their basic needs.

When it comes to taking care of your pet, there are some basic needs that you can’t afford to neglect. First and foremost, your pet needs a nutritious diet in order to stay healthy. Make sure to consult with your veterinarian to find out what kind of food is best for your pet, and always have fresh water available.

Exercise is also important for your pet’s physical and mental wellbeing, so be sure to provide opportunities for them to run and play. Finally, regular check-ups with the vet are essential in order to catch any potential health problems early on. By meeting all of your pet’s basic needs, you can help them lead a happy and healthy life.

3.)  Don’t disturb them while they’re sleeping.

While cats are typically very independent creatures, they do enjoy a good nap from time to time. When a cat is sleeping, it is in a very vulnerable state and can be easily disturbed. As a result, it is important to give sleeping cats the space they need. If you must approach a sleeping cat, do so slowly and gently so as not to startle it. And if you have a cat that likes to sleep in your bed, be sure to give it its own space so that it can rest peacefully. By respecting a cat’s need for rest, you can help ensure that it stays healthy and happy.

4.)  Don’t try to force them into social situations.

Cats are wonderful creatures that can bring a lot of joy to our lives. However, it’s important to remember that they are also unique and individual animals with their own distinct personalities. Some cats enjoy social interaction and crave attention, while others prefer to keep their distance.

Trying to force a cat into a situation that makes them uncomfortable is likely to result in stress and anxiety, and could even lead to aggression.

If you have a shy or introverted cat, it’s best to respect their wishes and allow them plenty of space. With time and patience, you may be able to encourage them to come out of their shell on their own terms. But ultimately, it’s important to remember that each cat is different, and should be treated as an individual.

5.)  Don’t change their routine too much.

Cats are creatures of habit. They like routine and predictability. When their routine is disrupted, it can cause stress and anxiety. This is why it’s important not to change your cat’s routine too much. If you need to make a change, do it gradually.

For example, if you’re changing your cat’s food, mix the new food in with the old food over a period of several days. And if you’re introducing a new piece of furniture to the house, put it in a room that your cat doesn’t use much first, so they can get used to it gradually. By taking things slowly, you can help your cat adjust to change without becoming too stressed out.

6.)  Don’t punish them physically.

There are a variety of methods that can be used to discipline a cat, but physical punishment is not one of them. Not only is it ineffective, but it can also lead to further behavioral problems. When a cat is physically punished, it does not understand why it is being hurt and may become fearful or aggressive.

This can result in the cat becoming even more difficult to train. In addition, physical punishment can damage the bond between you and your cat, making it less likely to trust and follow your commands. If you are looking for a way to discipline your cat, there are far better options available. With patience and consistency, you can teach your cat to behave the way you want it to without resorting to physical punishment.

7.)  Don’t forget to show them love.

Though often seen as independent and aloof, cats are social creatures that need love and attention from their owners. Just like any other pet, cats thrive on positive human interaction and can suffer from neglect. Proper care for a cat includes regular meals, fresh water, clean litter, toys and playtime, and of course, love and affection.

When showing love to a cat, it’s important to be respectful of their personal space and to go slowly at first. Many cats enjoy being petted, but some prefer to be left alone. Pay attention to your cat’s body language and let them approach you when they’re ready. With a little patience and understanding, you can develop a strong bond with your feline friend that will last a lifetime.
